86,400 Reasons to work harder

There is only one thing in this world that is exactly the same for everybody. There is only one thing in this world that you can never have more of. There is only one thing in this world that you can never get back once you lost it. TIME

The only thing in this world that is exactly the same for everybody, can never have more of, and can never get back once you lost is TIME. Every single day of our lives, we all have the exact same amount of time to move towards or away from our dreams. 24 hours in 1 day, 60 minutes in 1 hour, and 60 seconds in 1 minute.

86,400 seconds per day. We each get EXACTLY 86,400 seconds every day of our lives to become better or to become worse, how you decide to use your time is up to you. I hate when people say I can’t do this or I will never be able to do that, blah blah blah. It’s just an excuse. Let me try to get through to you a different way….

Think of your life as a bank account: EVERY SINGLE DAY $86,400 is deposited into your checking account for you to spend (imagine that!) however you want, BUT at the end of that 24 hours, it all disappears and starts over. How would you spend it? I bet you would spend every last penny knowing that whatever you don’t use can never be used again. I bet you would make it a priority to make sure you spent all of that money every single day because if not you would be wasting money!

Now put that energy into spending every second of the day as happy as you can be and making every second count! It is not what you are going to do tomorrow, or what you are going to do 1 year from now that defines you. What defines you is what you are NOW. Make every day count and strive to become better at whatever your profession is every single day, and watch the bigger picture become clearer and clearer.

$86,400 is a lot of money… I doubt you would care if somebody took out $10 every day, or maybe $30 one day. Time is the exact same way. You get 86,400 seconds every single day, so why would you get upset if 10 seconds of your day is taken away from somebody trying to upset you? You still have 86,390 seconds that were happy and great? Why would you let 10 seconds or $10 ruin the bigger picture?

  1. I really like the idea of thinking about time in terms of money. It’ll make me think twice about wasting time. Would I rather spend $30 (minutes) watching a tv show or spend it pursuing my goals.
